I'll keep this brief, I've got a train to catch. I've done a three day stint in Birmingham at the legendary Glee Club. It's still one of those places that I feel is a great privilege to play. I'm also very proud that I'm one of the longest serving performers there. I did my first open spot back in about 94, the year it opened. It wasn't long before I was doing weekends there and I've had some rocking nights there and some crazy ones. Back in the 90s the bills were totally different and you wonder where everyone that was on the bill back in those days went.
Last night was pretty good. I have to say it was Zoe Lyons' gig. She closed and had a fine time, good on her. I was in the middle and it was okay but I didn't completely knock them over. Never mind it was what it was. There was no late show, there was a debate show going on with some entertainment thrown in for the, shall we say urban community in the little room. To be fair it was full, it was an eye opener though. The extreme levels of male chauvanism and subservience from some of the women was something that could be debated by far more eminent people than me. I'm just a Geordie man in his Forties who swares for a living, I'm not Nicky Campbell thank fuck.
I'm off now. Train home. Assembly tonight. Come down and enjoy yourself. John Scott is on tonight, always worth the admission money. Speak tomorrow folks.
