I adopted a new style last night. It wasn't so much of a new style that it was radically different from before but I just slowed down a little bit because I've been a bit tired of late. Taking your time is very invigorating I can tell you.
I was in Dumfries at the regular gig there, I can't remember what it's called but it's run by a real genuine comedy person called Rob Crosbie. I couldn't watch the rest of the gig, I've finally decided that after 23 years I'm just comedied out now. Instead I stood in the very quiet bar with a few old gadgies at the window and an old councillor propped up at the bar counter who talked semi pissed about football, Bobby Thompson (apparently he went to see him once in Carlisle) and popular music. You can't argue with a besuited protestant 70 year old man standing up pissed in a bar and shouting 'shang a lang' at the top of voice. Apparently Queen Of The South are mentioned in the bible as well. I'm keeping that trivia. It was kitchen sink British cinema brought to life in the first person. Who needs rehearsed observations?!!!
The gig was actually great, they went with all of it pretty much. I'm not on top form at the minute but I'm steady enough and playing quite well with largely new stuff so I'll take that.
Completely knackered driving home, I'm getting too old for this but not for the 25 minutes of magic on stage, thank fuck I still like that bit. Speak tomorrow.
